Mental Health First Aid in February

Tri-County Mental Health Services will host two mental health first aid classes during February.

Mental health first aid courses are designed to equip people such as teachers, relatives and members of the general public to recognize and address signs of mental illness, either as they are emerging or when someone is in crisis. Supporters liken it to CPR.

Tri-County will host an adult mental health first aid program Feb. 14 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The instructor is Andrea Kesler and co-facilitator is Lori Byl. The cost of the program is $40 and it will be held at Tri-County Mental Health, 3100 NE 83rd St., Ste. 2005, Kansas City. To register or for additional information, contact Andrea at andreak@tri-countymhs.org or 816-877-0474.

A free, youth mental health first aid class will be held at Tri-County from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 28. The instructor will be Kelsey Prather and the co-facilitator Kendra Callaway. It will also be held at Tri-County Mental Health, 3100 NE 83rd St., Ste. 2005, Kansas City. For additional information, email kelseyp@tri-countymhs.org or call (816) 877-0496.
