Tri-County to Host Family-To-Family Program

Northland sessions of the acclaimed Family-to-Family program will begin Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Tri-County Mental Health Services.

The free, 12-week series is sponsored by the National Alliance on Mental Illness to provide education and support for families of individuals with mental illness. The 12 classes are held each Tuesday, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 pm.

The program is designed for families and friends of individuals who are dealing with conditions such as ADHD, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Trained family members who have lived with this experience teach the course. The focus is on knowledge and skills that family members need to cope more effectively.

The NAMI Family-To-Family Education Program is appropriate for parents, siblings, other family members and significant others of people with severe and persistent mental illness.

Classes are held in the second floor conference room at Tri-County Mental Health Services, 3100 NE 83rd St, Kansas City, Mo., 64119. The program is free but registration is limited. To register or for more information, please call Bob at 816-419-9669 or e-mail FTFnorth@gmail.com.
